Simone Biles pulled out of the team finals and women’s gymnastics at the tokyo Olympics on Tuesday the olympic star withdrew from the competition after scoring 13.766 on the vault the lowest score of her career the team went on to meddle in tokyo without their star athlete taking silver behind the russian olympic committee team usa released a statement to nbc news saying quote simone has withdrawn from the team final competition due to a medical issue she will be assessed daily to determine medical clearance for future competitions the reigning olympic champ didn’t perform her challenging yushenko double pike vault as expected during her only event in the finals she changed her plans and struggled through a simpler aminar vault with a one and a half twist the team usa anchor briefly left the floor with the team’s medical trainer following the vault and returned a few minutes later with her right leg wrapped simone was then seen putting her sweatpants on and hugging her fellow teammates she remained on the competition floor cheering for the team but didn’t compete in any other elements simone took to social media after the qualifiers and opened up about the pressure of the competition writing quote i know i brush it off and make it seem like pressure doesn’t affect me but damn sometimes it’s hard simone has been hailed the greatest of all time in the sport but admitted that she feels like she has a heavy load to bear saying quote it wasn’t an easy day or my best but i got through it i truly do feel like i have the weight of the world on my shoulders at times the olympics is no joke but i’m happy my family was able to be with me virtually they mean the world to me the 24 year old gold medalist hasn’t lost an all-around in a meet since 2013 and her future in the individual competition in tokyo is still up in the air access hollywood scott .
Evans caught up with olympic medalist nastia lucan in tokyo before the finals and she explained why she thinks simone is the goat you know we talk about the pressure and the expectations that the whole entire world and the whole country in the nation and that pressure that she has on her shoulders but i think nobody else puts more pressure on her than herself you know she’s a perfectionist as so many athletes are but literally she you know she’s she can do the most difficult routines and the most difficult skills in the world that nobody is doing and you know she takes one step or you know step out of bounds or something and she’s not like totally disappointed but you know she’s a perfectionist so she can’t you can see it on her face you know she’s like okay i could have done that better i’ve done it better your chanco double pike that she did it she did like she did here here right so so you’re you know what you’re talking about here yeah and it was like uh-oh you just let us know that like yeah i’m not afraid to pull it out yeah and the the craziest thing is she doesn’t need to do that like you know so yeah she’s so far um ahead of you know the rest of the field but again that’s what makes her in my opinion the greatest of all time because not only is she you know the records the medals that it speaks for themselves but she pushes herself to do things that she never thought for like first of all like i i remember like listening to her say like i didn’t even think that was possible right you know when her coaches were like okay you should try this and she was like no like exactly that seems a little crazy it’s dangerous and now she’s at the olympics competing it.
