My 17 year old Cuisinart DCC-1200 coffee maker finally started leaking. Seventeen years old and, until last week, it never failed me. That’s a pretty good record, so I figured I’d replace it with the same one. But since Wife makes the coffee, I let her choose and she opted for this DCC-3200P1.

This is my second thermal carafe model as the old one finally died after about 11 years of problem free continuous use. I really like the new model as it can make 12 cups instead of the old 10 and the display and control buttons are large and easy to read. I also like the see through window on the side of the machine so you can more easily see how full the water reservoir is. The old model didn’t have that feature.

Some of the other reviews mentioned a few complaints and I can address some of them so that you can operate the coffee maker without any negative issues. If the carafe lid is not screwed on fully it will dribble when pouring and make a mess.

I also found it sometimes gets hard to tighten the lid fully which just adds to the problem, so I just rubbed a tiny bit of cooking oil on the tip of my finger around the rubber seal and it seals smoothly and perfectly every time- no more dribbling coffee while pouring. Another review mentioned you can’t pour out all the coffee out of the pot, but don’t worry: You never have to lose any coffee.

When you are down to the last bit of coffee just unscrew the lid and pour every last drop into your cup and use that as an opportunity to rinse the pot- you’ll need to rinse the pot anyway, and why dump perfectly good coffee into the sink? Also, make sure you rinse out the lid:  if you don’t, coffee residue can build up inside.

I bought the coffeemaker on a whim hoping it would pan out… and I must say that I absolutely LOVE this coffee maker. Everything about the design makes complete sense starting with the removable water reservoir that makes it so easy to wash compared to a basic coffee maker where it’s built into the main unit and you basically wash the reservoir on “clean” mode (they always get nasty over time).

Secondly, the different brews you can make, starting with “small batch” which I love because I only make two cups in the morning. It can be difficult to get the right taste for a small batch on a 12 cup maker. It also has “classic” or “rich” brews which you can tell the difference.

Classic is exactly what it sounds like, classic taste, while rich is a little stronger if you like stronger coffee, which I do! Lastly, there’s a tablespoon scooper that attaches to the side of the unit which is very convenient. I haven’t had the maker long, my only hope is that it lasts! Love the design!

choose this updated version after reading a million (+-) reviews. It covered all the must haves and looks good. Performs very well for all amounts (4-12 cups). Flavor & temperature are both very good. Use filtered Brita water, so not having to fill carafe to measure is nice, just remove lid & fill reservoir to level. Carafe & warming plate has very nice in-out feel (seats well & smooth).

The only engineering upgrade would be a perforated reservoir lid to help release condensation that forms on reservoir sidewalls.
I may drill (6-10) 1/4 inch holes in lid just to see.
Other than that I would recommend this product.

I loved this coffee pot as soon as I unboxed it. It was simple, yet elegant. I had always wanted to use the programmable features of being able to set up a time of when my coffee could be brewed in the morning without me, but I always got frustrated over all the buttons needed to press in order to set a simple time. I would get discouraged and instead of messing with it, I would just decide to turn my pot on as soon as I woke up. When I purchased this one I looked for 5 simple things.
1. Was the coffee hot enough when it was brewed.
2. When poured, did the coffee spill all over the place
3. Did it have a clock and did have a programmable feature
4. Was it reliable and sturdy
5. Was the price right

After reading almost 90% of the comments, I decided to take a chance on this one. I will tell you, the coffee in my WHITE (I’m not sure about the black) coffee pot comes out extremely hot and I love my coffee to the point of burning. I add a significant amount of creamer and if my coffee is warm, my creamer will make it luke warm and by then, I no longer want to drink it. I have ABSOLUTELY no issues with the temperature of the brewed coffee. Second, The carafe in this coffee pot pours water and coffee efficiently. Every other coffee pot I’ve owned, water would pour everywhere whenever I filled the water basin up in order to start a pot, but this one is fantastic. I haven’t spilled any coffee or water while using this coffee pot.

Quick brew of hot coffee, exactly what I was hoping for. I haven’t made a cold brew yet but the provided cup seems pretty heavy duty so I’m looking forward to that. The included recipe book for cold brews is handy and they even included a coupon for some of the mix stuff, though I’m sure you can make it with normal creamers as well.

There is a coffee ground measuring cup that fits into the side of the unit. I thought I liked strong coffee but only cow – the diagram shows to use a rounded scoop and I don’t think I’ll need to curl my hair for a month, lol.

Only two negatives. I ran through a vinegar and water solution before using it (for cleaning) and right after lifted the top and poured in fresh cool water to give it a rinse without giving the machine time to cool. It sputtered and steamed out of the top. It could have caused burns, so if you’re going to perk two cups in rapid succession, be warned. Second (and this is very minor), when using a standard mug, it has a little bit of drip spatter. I’m not familiar with single type drip machines and this may be normal. It isn’t enough to be a big deal for me, just a few little drops to wipe up.

-Slim design lets me tuck it in the corner of the counter so I’m not sacrificing precious space in the camper.
-FAST. Just as fast as brewing with a Keurig, without having to buy the pods
-Easy to use. There’s only two buttons: Hot or Iced. the amount of water you put in the reservoir is how much coffee you’re going to get. I just fill up whatever cup I’m going to be drinking out of with water and use that to fill the reservoir. Also, the included scoop has easy measurements based on how many ounces you’re brewing and whether its hot or iced.

-Easy to clean. Just dump out your grounds and rinse out the filter
-More affordable than a Keurig, in both the machine itself and the coffee you use (no pods!)
-Brews both hot and iced coffee (of course, that’s why we’re here!)

-If you’re brewing back to back cups, you want to wait 10 mins or so for it to cool down some between brews. 1.)The filter is still really hot, so pulling it out to clean it right away is difficult. 2.) the heating element in the reservoir is still hot, and is now not covered by water, so when you go to pour new water in, the water steams and splashes back up and can burn you (happened to me a couple times)
– I think the iced coffee function could use some tweaking. I’ve had ones made on the Keurig, and the ice keeps, and my drink stays cold for quite a while. With this one, I feel like my ice melts too quickly and I’m left with a watered down coffee, even in my Yeti cup. Both this and the Keurig start out brewing the coffee hot, and then switch to cold as to not melt the ice. I think the timing/temperature ratio is off on this one and it goes too hot for too long. There could be other factors in play here that have nothing to do with the machine, but based on what I’ve compared, they just come out differently.

It was time to upgrade our coffee maker, and we definitely made the right choice with this one. My favorite features are the permanent filter and timed brewing. I have to get up really early for work, so I just load it the night before, and it’s one less thing to think about. Really nice sleek appearance as well. It’s not bulky, which is good because we don’t have a lot of counter space. It would be suitable for apartment people! Great value for the price.

I have always purchased Cuisinart but thought I would try this brand as it looked comparable but not as expensive. Been using it for 3 days and really like it. It has various options for strength and carafe temp, also very important to me is auto on in the morning. The only “quirk” I don’t care for is it goes into “sleep mode” (energy saving?) and it always requires two button pushes to turn it on/off. One push to “wake it up” and then the actual function button you’re looking to use.

– Sleek and stylish
– Keeps coffee hot for up to 3 hours with the “Auto off” setting
– Makes up to 12 cups of coffee
– Reusable filter, so no need for disposable filters
– Compact, small footprint
– Very easy to clean

– None as of yet, I guess. It just makes my coffee and I’m happy!

This coffee maker also has a delayed start setting, but I haven’t tested that feature yet.

The first thing I noticed (after un-boxing it) was that it has this lever on the back. This little lever is to detach the top so it can be washed in the dishwasher. I swear I heard angles singing and the world became a brighter place. Why did it take someone so long to figure out how to do this and do they realize how incredible this feature is? Ok, now that I’ve (hopefully) helped you grasp the importance of this feature, let’s move on. The next thing I noticed was that the lid opens to the side. This makes it very easy for putting the grounds and the water into.

It also has a window on the side of the machine so you can see how much water has been added. This might seem like a no-brainer feature, but I have owned a few coffee makers that didn’t have this feature. Instead, there were little lines on the inside of the machine that I had to try to see so I could tell what the water level was. Moving on, again..

. The water doesn’t come out of the lid of the coffee pot like some I have used. Instead, there is a spout that swivels out of the way for when you are adding the coffee grounds. There is also a reusable filter for those who prefer to not use paper. They even included a water filter, so you can have extra filtered water, with a dial to set the month so you know when you replaced it last.

Now on to the making of the coffee. The clock/timer feature is easy to use so I’m not going to take the time to explain it. After you have set the clock and the timer, you have to push the brew later button twice to turn that feature on. The first time you push it you get the ability of choosing the time and the second time activates the feature. Very simple.

I love coffee and over time I have accumulated different coffee makers for different occasions. When I have time or company I brew an elegant pour over with my Chemex, for example. Or I use a Keurig for a quick cup to take in the car.

But in the dark winter mornings it is lovely to simply wake to the aroma of a freshly brewed pot of coffee and to know it will stay hot in the stainless steel carafe. I can prepare this GE the night before and in the morning all I have to do is pour my cup! The digital display is simple and stylish (blue display). It is really easy to set the current time as well as the brew timer, unlike many things these days. The “bold” setting really makes a delicious difference if the coffee lends itself to that.

The display illuminates when you set it but then goes dark after a bit so it is not distracting. It’s very classy on the counter. Absolutely no drips from the carafe. And no beeps from this machine. This uses a #4 cone filter. All the coffee I have prepared with this is delicious. It seems substantial and well made, and I would purchase it again. There is really nothing I don’t like about it, as it does what it promises. Well done, GE!

Love, love, love this coffeemaker! The main reason fir purchasing it was the ease of adding water to it, and the ability to clean out the water reservoir. Filling our old pot meant putting water in the pot, adding just a bit because it doesn’t measure accurately, turning the unit sideways to see the tiny markings on the reservoir, and placing a dishtowel next to the unit to catch the inevitable water that didn’t quite make it into the reservoir. I don’t see well,

so a black coffeemaker with a narrow, dark, poorly marked window became an instrument of frustration for me. And if the coffee basket (also black with some tiny black hieroglyphics) was not placed exactly right, there was more trouble: grounds in the coffee, basket overflows. My time is worth more than that! So finding a coffeemaker with a clear,

removable reservoir was a Eureka moment for me. I can actually SEE how much water is going in the reservoir! The only thing this machine lacks is a water filter, but we use filtered water, so there is no need. This coffeemaker is elegant in its simplicity, easy to use, can go sideways or lengthwise on the counter, AND it makes great coffee.
